It breaks,
this day. Open,
like an egg. In golden strings,
strummed as song.

I gulp and grapple
between beauty
and duty. Wonder
when I might simply
slide a lemonyellow
slice upon my tongue.

It flees,
this breeze. Broken
in its own shell. We tell it stories,
and it carries them far.

A saffron lollipop of
longing, an unmelting
sorrow. A song bubble.
An orange rind, wound
