A Beautiful Evening in Appalachia

In a secret hidden dale
On a moonlit night
The birds have hushed
Into their evening roost
Insects start their songs
There is something beautiful
In these deep lush woods
Still, Soft loam on karsty bones
Cold pure spring water
Sparkling in the moonshine

  1. It does sound lovely! Google couldn’t tell me what ‘karsty’ means – unless it is a reference to a particular kind of landscape known as ‘karst’. And I am wondering if you intend the ambiguity of ‘moonshine’.
