forgotton fusuma

memories grow tall
painted windowframes peeling
weeds almost reach them

jolly hotei’s face
laughing from the statues foot
unsmothered by leaves

much has happened here
in this old house by the creek
traces disappear

  1. Ooh, this is so powerful and mysterious. Very beautifully penned with an eerie theme to it in haiku sequence. It makes me wish there was more to read of this piece–I really didn’t want it to end.

    Fantastic and lovely writing!

  2. A house with tall unkempt plants in front of it is always assumed to be mysterious and abandoned. It could just be mine…
Seriously though, I do like your scene-setting in that first one, leading to the fading away in the last line of the sequence.
