you have the audacity
to thrust into the sea
and stay still within her
though her raging flays you
her relentless tides wash you away

Very powerful and emotional in brevity. Quite beautifully written too. I enjoy your writing style!

thank you Lucy. i feel like i’m not saying everything, or sometimes even not saying very much. there’s a lot of unwritten stuff behind this one.

Damned if you do damned if you don’t but having the audacity comes with that golden ticket of joy. You said a lot in very few words.

Very great metaphor! Seems we are all peninsulas jutting into life just waiting to be washed away!

I find that shorter pieces often pack more power and this is no exception. Well done!

It’s the unwritten words that sometimes come through on a piece- nicely done!

Lots of peninsulas out there … dissolving. I love the brevity of your poem. Chock full of meaning.

You said a lot briefly and left it open to interpretation. Isn’t it amazing how the readers get something different from what is written, cause not all our experiences are the same. The readers bring their own meaning to the poem so that what you speak speaks volumes. (Did that make any sense at all?)

Debi that made a lot of sense! i love it when that happens! poems are not a spectator sport, everyone participates.

Audacity…..a great word! Much meaning can be found in so few words here.

There’s so much in these few lines–and a lot of passion contained.
